I’m trying to save myself from a dream I had last night. So it was all Mass Effect, and I dreamed a story that I desperately want to write — which is so stupid because I have so much real work to do. But for all of you fellow Mass Effect players I will sketch out the broad strokes of the thing and hope that gets it out of my head so I won’t be tempted to write yet another piece of Mass Effect fan fic.

***************************************And Now There are Spoilers From the Citadel DLC in the Third Game ***Warning Will Robinson!!!!! *********************

So in the game you end up fighting a clone of your Shepard who then decides to commit suicide and does a swan dive off the Normandy rather than surrender to you. But what if he/she doesn’t die? I mean this is Shepard who was bought back from death and has defeated Reapers.

So in my dream the clone survived though badly injured and it’s Zaeed Massani (one of my favorite characters from the second game voiced by the wonderful Robin Sachs who died too young) who witnesses the swan dive. And having himself survived being shot in the head and knowing this is Shepard who is a “big damn hero” Zaeed goes to see if the clone survived. Which he did, but he’s in bad shape so Zaeed gets him to a medical facility where he is cared for by Dr.Michel (Yeah, I’ve played this game a lot that I can have a rather minor character show up in my dream). Zaeed suspects that the galaxy is going to need more than one Shepard to defeat the Reapers and so by saving the clone of Shepard they are ready to fight off the Reapers when they take control of the Citadel and move it to Earth. Because of Zaeed and clone Shepard’s tactical genius and bravery they are able to save a lot of the people living on the Citadel and hold the Reapers at bay even though they can’t prevent the Reapers from moving the giant space station.

And then my Shepard who is a lonely only child and survives the final battle and the destruction of the Reapers gets to finally have a family that consists of more than just his mother, and the clone finds acceptance and realizes he’s more than just a poor imitation of the original and that he can have a life of his own.
