I just paused to make a list of the ways in which Republicans split hairs over rape. Let’s see there’s —
1. Legitimate Rape (Todd Aiken)
2. Forcible Rape (Paul Ryan)
3. Emergency Rape (Linda McMahon)
4. Gift From God Rape (Richard Mourdock)
5. Some Women Rape Easy otherwise known as Women Are Just Lyin’ Bitches Rape (Roger Rivard)
How about we just go with the President’s approach? Rape is Rape.
If you are a women why on Earth are you voting Republican?
That list makes me sad (or angry (or both)). Given that they are just as wrong about the environment, economics, world events, …, as they are about your list, I can’t quite figure out why anyone at all would vote Republican.
I completely agree, Steve, but I [u]really[u] don’t understand why women or gays or minorities would vote for a Republican. As for white, working class voters — well the Republicans have convinced people to vote against their own best interests.
Yes, I wince at the gullibility of my polling category. It does seem that Republicans have a particularly large blank spot in empathy for women and yet they get support there also.
Someone on DailyKos has collected the key quotes in a chart: http://s3.amazonaws.com/dk-production/images/8869/large/gop_rape_advisory.gif?1351094205
