I had a mad insight into the universe today — okay, actually just a mad insight as to why this scene in the Wild Card movie wasn’t working.
I had three people in the scene, and it was just hobbling along. Once I dropped one character the scene just came to life. I could up the tension, the sense of things happening just below the surface.
This is why I never get tired of writing. Everyday there is some new problem to solve and that gets solved in a relatively unique way. Maybe there’s that same sense of eureka in law, but I never experienced it.
I definitely made the right choice when I quit being a lawyer.
hello there, I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for your updates. I especially appreciate posts dealing with the Wild Cards movie. I’m a huge fan of the whole series, and particularly of your work and the characters you’ve come up with. I never thought you’d be able to top Dr. Tachyon for complexity and drama, but you did with Noel and his other sides. Just wanted to let you know there are those of us out here who can’t wait to see what you have planned, and are always eager for more info about how the movie is coming, maybe some hints as to who might be featured, or what time period it will be in, or, you know, anything like that 🙂
Thanks again, and happy writing
Thank you so much, Hayz for your message. It really helps. I’m working very hard, and realized I had a problem in the script. I’ve got it fixed, but it will require some fiddling so kind words from folks like you really help me keep going.
I love Noel. I’m hoping to write him again in High Stakes, or next book. He is so cynical and fun to write, and I’ve discovered I have a talent for grey characters.
High Stakes, eh? I hope you get the chance to write him again! I’m so looking forward to finding out what’s been going on with Noel and Niobe. They wound up being the highlight of the Tor books for me. I enjoyed the series thoroughly, but Noel and Niobe’s unlikely romance, the relationship between Noel and his father… that shined for me. Anyhow, I will let you get back to writing, just know you have an avid fan here, and he plans on keeping a close eye on your blog and FB page for film developments. No pressure or anything…
Thanks again
It just suddenly occurred to Ian and I that Noel and Niobe both had body and sexuality issues, and this deep hunger for children. They really did belong together. It was fun writing that romance. At heart I’m a bit of a romantic, I confess. I have to get much better about writing on my blog, and not just rely on Facebook. Facebook is just so easy. I’ve had to do a bit of replotting of the movie, and I’m about to get to work now, but I love to visit with folks so never hesitate to say hi,
I sent a friend request on Facebook, just so I can keep a closer eye on your musings. Thanks so much for responding to my posts, and look forward to reading more from you.
