Yes, I have been obsessively playing Dragon Age: Inquisition, and loving it. Great companions. A worthy task that seems far more noble and important then the problems set out in Dragon Age 2. There was a power to Dragon Age: Origins in that you are basically a kid with out any support who has to save your country. You basically grow up and have to deal with not only the Blight, but a civil war that threatens to tear your nation apart. It also felt like a big world. Then along came Dragon...

I usually keep the conversation light, focused on writing and games and horses and TV shows and movies. But the torture report which was published today (and keep in mind this is a mere 20% of the actual report a 500 page summation of a 6700 page report that is classified) is harrowing, horrific, stunning and a detailed look at how we lost our moral compass and our way after 9/11. I am sickened and furious. Torture was rejected at the very founding of our country by GeorgeWashington. When...

I had a feeling last night was going to be depressing so read and watched Arrow and had dinner with a friend rather than watch the electoral returns. And it was what I expected but more so. I could understand Iowa and Colorado. I could even understand Wisconsin, but Paul LePage, a seemingly insane individual was reelected in Maine? Or this Hice guy who is a fundamentalist preacher who has declared that Islam is not protected under the first amendment — among other equally charming...

My friend Len Wein has started a new Tuesday night tradition. After I finish at the barn I drive over to his and Christine’s house, I have a long soak in one of their amazing big, deep bathtubs. I read and relax. Then we fix dinner and after dinner it’s time for Agents of Shield and Person of Interest and now we have added The Flash to that line up. Basically we watch shows from 8:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. First, it’s a lot more fun to watch television with other people....

I want to love Dr. Who again. I really do. But it’s getting hard right now. I admit Matt Smith just never quite worked for me. The manic delivery, and the very strong sense that the solutions to the various problems were less solutions then just frantic hand waving didn’t help. He did get better toward the end, but when Amy and Rory left the show my interest began to flag. Carpaldi is a terrific actor, but right now his arrogance is playing more like a petulant twelve year old which...

So here are a few things that I’ve learned on my last day in London. Never, ever try to go to a museum, particularly the Victoria & Albert on a bank holiday when it is raining. The line literally went around the block. I opted to save this for another trip. Harrod’s is the Mother Ship of department stores, and it is filled with very expensive and really very gaudy and tasteless things. Here’s a small sample. The Tea Room is first rate so I’m betting all the...
