So, I’m paying my credit card bill today — I’m fortunate enough to be able to pay it off in full, every month — when I noticed I had a finance charge of $31.70.  Which seemed odd since I _pay it off in full, every month_!  So I called the company.  Apparently when I was typing in the amount on last month’s bill my finger slipped, and I failed to pay the full amount.  I was off by $1.32.  For which I was charged interest of $31.70.

I didn’t take it out on the poor guy in India.  I was laughing, but definitely annoyed as I told him this was totally absurd.  He agreed, and “because of my wonderful payment history” they would waive the finance charge.

Which is great for me, but sucks for people who don’t have my advantages.

I really hope Senator Sanders gets through his federal cap on credit card interest rates.  This is outrageous, and I can’t imagine what these kind of charges would do to your average American  family.
