I tried to make it out to see Body of Lies last night, but a confused waiter ended up delaying me. I had fun visiting with George and Ty, but the movie was just not in the cards. Maybe next week. But I have seen a couple of films. George and I went to see Bill Mahr’s Religulous and it was hysterical, insightful and depressing. I’m trying to figure out how to send him a copy of THE EDGE OF REASON as a gift. Time to contact the Hollywood manager and get an address for his company.

I then went and saw Appaloosa with my friend Sage Walker. She is a huge Viggo fan (as am I). And every since Apollo 13 I have been a huge Ed Harris fan.

It was really fun watching the landscape. A lot of the film was shot within a few miles of my house which gave me a real kick. I liked this movie but mostly because of the cast. The structure was dreadful, and it completely fell apart in the middle. This long diversion to track down the other “lawman” and Jeremy Irons and then the Indian raid. What was all that about? Other than to establish that the Renee Zellweger character always went with the boss stallion I don’t know why it was there. It seemed like a long setup for an ironic line delivered at the end of a shootout. I also thought the film was too long. Cleaning up the middle section would have addressed that problem. I did like the overall theme — that it required a man (or killer depending on your perspective) with feelings to act to correct a terrible situation.

I can recommend both these movies. Oh, and somebody let me know if Body of Lies is worth seeing. George and Ty said it was getting very mixed reviews. But again, I really like the cast.
