My friend, Janice Gelb, sent this to another list I’m on.  It’s very funny, but makes the point very well.  Humor really is the best vehicle for this sort of thing.

 Anyway check this out —

 Prop 8:  The Musical

I hadn’t written about the passage of this evil and pernicious initiative because I was high from the election, and had to travel and then it was Thanksgiving.  But then I heard from a friend in L.A. who got married during the brief reign of reason and kindness, and is now in deep despair.

I just don’t understand why these people are such haters?  They seem to have no problem picking and choosing among the writings of bronze age and iron age primitives and applying these maunderings to modern society.

You don’t like gay marriage — DON’T MARRY A GAY PERSON!

This is the most unbelievable violation of the Equal Protection clause.  My lawyer specializes in drafting documents that try and give a gay couple the same rights as married people.  It generally costs them around $10,000, and if they aren’t perfectly drafted it leads to problems.  And many judges are unwilling to go against the wishes of a parent who tries to keep the partner away from his/her sick or dying lover.

Our Constitution works best when it expands rights.  The one time we tried contracting them — prohibition — it didn’t turn out all that well.

If the believers want to push an agenda why don’t they push the Golden Rule, and leave the rest of us the hell alone.
