There was one more thing that really annoyed me about Fable II.  The reason I remembered it was because I had a dream about the hateful character, Reaver and how badly he treated my poor hero.

This was the most interesting character because it was voiced by Stephen Fry.  So here’s the background.  The guy made a deal with the Shadow Court that he would never die, but the evil Shades destroyed his home village in exchange.  Now Reaver has to send in someone young and innocent to the court, and they suck away the youth and beauty from this sacrifice so that Reaver will stay young and handsome.  Apparently he’s like hundreds of years old.

So in the game, in order to get Reaver’s help you have to go to the Shadow Court where you can decide to let this young frightened girl get aged and ugly, or do it yourself to save her.  Since I always play these Goody Two Shoes characters I, of course, took the hit.

Then it turns out that having Reaver doesn’t seem to make a damn bit of difference to the end of the game Anymore than having any of the other heroes makes a difference.  And then, if you buy Reaver’s mansion you learn even more disturbing and disgusting stuff about him.

But you are never given the opportunity to deliver a little pay back to Reaver, or destroy the Shadow Court, or restore the drowned and ruined village.

Now, that may be how real life works, but it sucks in a game.  I think I had a bad dream about Reaver that had me waking up grinding my teeth because I wasn’t given the opportunity to get even, and make things a little bit better.

Sort of hated that.  I don’t play these games so I can not accomplish stuff.
