Went to the movies last weekend and saw Kung Fu Panda 2.  I had really enjoyed the first movie, and this sequel was equally beautiful and charming.  I especially loved the use of the peacock villain’s tail as a fan.  Another wonderful moment was when the Panda is declaiming stirring speeches from the roof of the house, but what the evil peacock is hearing is just faint mutterings because Panda’s so far away.  It was a nice real world touch, rather like a scene in an action movie from long ago where our hero hits a guard on the head, and the guy just grabs his head, and goes 00000w instead of collapsing.

One of the greatest moments though was when the little boy seated behind us, and _totally_ into the movie watched the villain aim a giant cannon at the Panda.  The child was literally on the edge of his seat and he called out in an absolute panic “RUN PANDA!”

Tomorrow I’ll go see X-Men First Class.  I’ve been hearing great things about the film.  I do love movies.
