Hi,  I thought I would provide a service to readers by suggesting great holiday gifts.  (Yes, Fox, you can bite me.  I’m part of the war on Xmas!)  Anyway, books make great presents because they are inexpensive when compared with the hours of pleasure they provide.  They make an awesome decorating statement.  If your house is filled with bookshelves filled with books rather than knick knacks you will look wise and intellectual.

So, here is a list and it’s by no means exhaustive.

VICIOUS GRACE the latest in the Jayne Heller series THE BLACK SUN’S DAUGHTER by M.L.N. Hanover.  This is urban fantasy at it’s very best — exciting and thoughtful.

BITTER SEEDS by Ian Tregillis.  One Hollywood guy described it as WATCHMEN meets INGLORIOUS BASTARDS.  Think Nazi supermen versus British warlocks, but scary as hell.

THIS IS NOT A GAME by Walter Jon Williams.  It’s a book for us.  All about computer gaming geeks saving the protagonist from a revolution and solving a murder.  It has the most awesome heroine ever.

KITTY GOES TO WAR by Carrie Vaughn.  The latest in the Kitty saga.  This is a wonderful series, but don’t start the book if you have to get up early the next morning.  You won’t be able to put it down until you finish.

THE MAGIC OF DAWN by S.L. Farrell, the conclusion to the Nessantico series.  This is an incredible fantasy series, and since I’m not normally a fantasy reader this is high praise coming from me.  Pick up the first two — THE MAGIC OF TWILIGHT and THE MAGIC OF NIGHTFALL, and settle in for a treat.

The DREAD EMPIRE’S FALL series by Walter Jon Williams.  I love this space opera, and I’m desperate for there to be more.  All three books are still in print, and they are brilliant.  THE PRAXIS, CONVENTIONS OF WAR, and THE SUNDERING.

And now I’ll quietly mention THE EDGE OF REASON and THE EDGE OF RUIN by yours truly.  Also SONGS OF LOVE AND DEATH, and the newest WILD CARD books in which I have stories.
